Neste ensaio de interpretação, pretende-se dar continuidade à leitura do texto de Marx encontrado na seção VI, do livro III de O capital, quanto à problemática jurídica. Trata-se de leitura específica, ainda que descritiva, dos apontamentos do revolucionário alemão sobre o direito no contexto dos escritos sobre o processo global da produção capitalista. A metodologia de interpretação segue pesquisa anterior que estabeleceu os sentidos do direito no texto marxiano, compreendendo-o como fundamentalmente caracterizado por relações jurídicas que se distinguem de meras (...) dimensões normativas. Relativamente aos avanços alcançados, contempla-se o entendimento de Marx sobre a “forma da propriedade fundiária” que impõe relações específicas nos âmbitos econômicos ou jurídicos. A “representação jurídica” decorre de uma transformação historicamente paralela aos processos de subsunção do trabalho ao capital e da derivação das formas sociais, com início na acumulação originária do capital. Ocorre uma contratualização do acesso à terra, tornada capital por via da noção jurídica específica de propriedade fundiária. Daí se extrai, por decorrência, a renda da terra. Para fins de análise crítica ao direito, ressalta-se a especialização do trabalho agrícola e a superexploração do trabalhador rural, bem como a conformação de tradição cultural do capitalismo no campo que implicam a compreensão de como se opera produção de mais-trabalho a partir da renda fundiária, por isso haver o seu distintivo como transformação de mais-valia em renda. Todas essas noções são fundamentais para se pensar uma crítica marxista ao direito desde a América Latina. (shrink)

In this paper, we explore challenges in conveying the culturally constructed meanings of local Indigenous musics and the worldviews they manifest to students in K-12 school music classes, when foundational aspects of the English language, historical and current discourse, and English language habits function to thwart the transmission of those meanings. We recount how, in settler colonial societies in North America, speakers of the dominant English language have historically misrepresented, discredited, and obscured cultural meanings that inhere in local Indigenous musics. (...) First, we examine three ways in which the use of English has distorted the cultural meanings of those musics. Next, we explain how historical discourses in English have intentionally undervalued or discredited the values intrinsic to those musics, also describing how some current music education discourse in English might work against the embedding of Indigenous meanings in school music education settings. We then consider additional factors distinguishing Indigenous languages from European languages (especially English) to show how a people’s “language habits” influence their perception of and thus their relationship with their natural environment. We conclude by considering the role of music education in revitalizing local Indigenous languages and musics and advancing the cultural values of their originating communities. (shrink)

We explore some topics in the model theory of sheaves of modules. First we describe the formal language that we use. Then we present some examples of sheaves obtained from quivers. These, and other examples, will serve as illustrations and as counterexamples. Then we investigate the notion of strong minimality from model theory to see what it means in this context. We also look briefly at the relation between global, local and pointwise versions of properties related to acyclicity.

A formulação habermasiana de racionalidade aponta a possibilidade de renovação da base justificadora da educação, pela emergência do universal na comunicação entre as diferentes experiências dos atores, nutridas pelas particularidades do mundo vivido. Isso permite à educação orientar-se por uma racionalidade que assegure a pluralidade e as diferenças, bem como formar a identidade de sujeitos racionais capazes de assumir compromissos éticos.

Using the description of the Ziegler spectrum we characterise modules with various stability-theoretic properties (ω-stability, superstability, categoricity) over certain classes of finite-dimensional algebras. We also show that, for modules over the algebras we consider, having few types is equivalent to being ω-stable.

Elementary duality between left and right modules over a ring, especially its interpretation in terms of the relevant functor categories, is discussed, as is the relationship between these categories of functors and sorts in theories of modules. A topology on the set of indecomposable pure-injective modules over a ring is introduced. This topology is dual to the Ziegler topology and may be seen as a generalisation of the Zariski topology.

The central aim of this book is to understand modules and the categories they form through associated structures and dimensions, which reflect the complexity of these, and similar, categories.

Rings which, from the ring-theoretic point of view, are very different may well have categories of modules which are extremely similar. More generally, the category of modules over a ring may contain many other categories of modules. Ideas from model theory are of use in elucidating this state of affairs. In particular we investigate the model-theoretic effect of tilting functors between categories of modules.

Let G be a finite group. For every formula ø in the language of groups, let K denote the class of groups H such that ø is a normal abelian subgroup of H and the quotient group H;ø is isomorphic to G. We show that if G is nilpotent and its order is not square-free, then there exists a formula ø such that the theory of K is undecidable.

In the model theory of modules the Ziegler spectrum, the space of indecomposable pure-injective modules, has played a key role. We investigate the possibility of defining a similar space in the context of G-sets where G is a group.

La pensée de Ricardo Sánchez Ortiz de Urbina n’a cessé de s’approfondir, sans toujours laisser le temps à ses lecteurs de reprendre leur souffle. La halte que représente « Que diez años es mucho… », dut ainsi être accueillie avec soulagement et reconnaissance! Situé à mi-parcours entre les écrits proprement stromatologiques et ceux qui donneront naissance à Orden oculto (2021), ne laissant rien pressentir des plus récentes percées, ce texte néanmoins rassemble avec patience et rigueur des années de réflexion (...) sur le sens d’une philosophie qui s’opère au niveau de l’eikôn et du microscopique, sans renoncer à son caractère systématique. Il constitue un préalable nécessaire à la bonne compréhension de l’épistémologie phénoménologique que RSOU bâtira quelques années plus tard. Surtout, il fournit un complément indispensable à ce que nous nous proposons d’appeler sa « perspective stromatologique » : celle qui entend révéler, dans la Sache, une diversité de couches (stromata) tenues ensemble par une structure « foliatile », la superposition ou le millefeuille des niveaux ainsi articulés. Seulement une philosophie des stromata phénoménologiques ne fait pas encore un monde. D’autres paramètres conceptuels sont requis, plus englobants ; qui n’avaient peut-être encore jamais fait l’objet d’un traitement systématique sous la plume de Ricardo. Le risque de confusion entre ces termes est désormais conjuré. (shrink)

How far do cultures affect the future of the planet? Can the debate on the environment and global warming be influenced by the cultures of East and West understanding each other better? In this 1835 work, Sarah Porter, née Ricardo shows her enthusiasm for arithmetic, and her concern for teaching it in a way that will develop the pupil's mind: 'There is no branch of early education so admirably adapted to call forth and strengthen the reasoning powers.' She uses the device of a conversation between pupil and teacher, popularised by Jane Marcet, to guide young Edmund from the written symbols for numbers through addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, (...) proportion, and square and cube roots. Answers to the questions are provided at the end of the book. A member of the Central Society of Education, which promoted imaginative theories of education instead of rote learning, Mrs Porter reworked her book in 1852 as Rational Arithmetic, a more conventional and less entertaining textbook for use in schools. Este estudo oferece um panorama histórico das políticas públicas relacionadas ao turismo e à gastronomia, destacando seu papel fundamental no desenvolvimento. A partir de uma revisão de literatura, foi possível compreender a evolução dessas políticas ao longo do tempo e seu impacto no progresso dessas atividades. As políticas analisadas não apenas influenciam aspectos econômicos, mas também moldam os territórios e afetam diretamente as comunidades locais. O artigo ressalta a importância da integração entre as políticas de turismo e as voltadas para (...) a cultura gastronômica, visando promover o turismo gastronômico como uma ferramenta estratégica para o desenvolvimento territorial. Neste artigo faz-se uma revisão sistemática da abordagem crítica a partir do filósofo alemão Jurgen Habermas do processo social atual da desinformação, em especial com as teorias do agir comunicativo e do Discurso. Faz-se uma breve apresentação das teorias do agir comunicativo e do Discurso de Habermas, e sua guinada pragmática. O método principal de investigação é uma revisão sistemática nas bases de dados Scopus e Web of Science. São usados como estratégia de busca os termos "Habermas" AND "disinformation OR (...) misinformation OR mis(information)". São apresentados os resultados da busca, após a limpeza dos dados dos artigos duplicados e refinamento para aqueles que abordam a Teoria do Agir Comunicativo. A discussão é realizada em torno dos artigos a partir das teorias de Habermas, da ideia de desinformação e dos meios de combatê-la. Entre os resultados observou-se pontos em comum nos artigos, como o uso dos termos fake news e desinformação como sinônimos, a preocupação com a democracia e como solução adotar medidas para controle e regulação. Conclui-se que a desinformação é movida a interesses, geralmente políticos. (shrink)

Church's Undecidability Theorem is one of the meta-theoretical results of the mid-third decade of the last century, which along with other limiting theorems such as those of Gödel and Tarski have generated endless reflections and analyzes, both within the framework of the formal sciences, that is, mathematics, logic and theoretical computation, as well as outside them, especially the philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of logic and philosophy of mind. We propose, as a general purpose of this article, to formulate Church's Undecidability (...) Theorem and present the main ideas of its demonstration. In order to carry out the first objective, we need to introduce and explain the notions of recursive function and numbering used by Gödel, which will allow to formally and rigorously enunciate Church's Theorem. After we enunciate Church's Theorem of Unspeakability in a formal and rigorous manner, we will present the main ideas of the proof of Church's Undecidability Theorem for First Order Logic, which uses Robinson's axiomatic system for arithmetic and four facts about himself: In Robinson's system for arithmetic recursive functions are representable Robinson's system is undecidable, The number of axioms proper to the Robinson system is finite and The logical calculation of the Robinson system is equal to the calculation of the first-order logic. O presente artigo fundamenta-se em uma pesquisa bibliográfica com o propósito de instigar debates acerca das estratégias adotadas por instituições e figuras proeminentes na tentativa de obscurecer ou mesmo negar a significativa contribuição das multidões de africanos escravizados que chegaram a estas terras, em larga medida, para o enriquecimento do país. Adicionalmente, baseia-se em uma pesquisa netnográfica com o desígnio de analisar as controvérsias e polêmicas presentes nas plataformas de mídia eletrônica relacionadas às alegações de envolvimento e benefício do Banco (...) do Brasil com o sistema econômico escravista e o tráfico ilegal de escravos. Ademais, o estudo almeja evidenciar que as frequentes tentativas de obliteração ou negação dos episódios de abuso, violência e perseguição contra os africanos e seus descendentes reforçam a percepção de que o reconhecimento e a valorização da contribuição dos negros dependem, em grande medida, de um contínuo exercício de revisão histórica e de um tratamento fiel e apropriado da narrativa histórica. The following note has on purpose to introduce interested students to logicism. Our objective is not to show any new interpretation or thesis about logicism or its rebirth between the 60s and 80s of the last century. What we will do is systematically show the evolution of logicism from Frege to Russell-Whitehead, with greater emphasis on this latest development, and approach some problems that arise within that movement, for example: The logical paradoxes and the principle of intuitive comprehension, the impredicative (...) definitions and the semantic paradoxes, the Ramified Hierarchy and real numbers, the axiom of reducibility and the impossibility of reducing mathematics to logic, etc. (shrink)
